Le Canada et le Nouveau-Brunswick investissent dans les infrastructures d’aqueduc et d’égout de Campbellton pour soutenir la construction de nouveaux logements
Campbellton (Nouveau-Brunswick), 24 juin 2026 — Le gouvernement du Canada utilise tous les outils à sa disposition, en tirant parti de la technologie, de l’innovation et des partenariats, pour construire des logements à grande échelle.
À cette fin, le député de Madawaska-Restigouche, Guillaume Deschênes-Thériault, le ministre de l’Environnement et du Changement climatique et ministre responsable de la Société de développement régional, l’honorable Gilles LePage, et le maire de la Communauté régionale de Campbellton, M. Michel Soucy, ont annoncé un investissement fédéral de plus de 561 000 $, une contribution provinciale de plus de 374 000 $, et un investissement municipal de plus de 187 000 $ dans les infrastructures d’aqueduc et d’égouts nécessaires afin d’accélérer la construction d’un plus grand nombre de logements dans le cadre du Fonds canadien pour les infrastructures liées au logement (FCIL).
Les travaux consistent à remplacer plusieurs centaines de mètres de conduites d’eau, de conduites d’eaux pluviales et de puisards sur la rue Notre-Dame, ainsi qu’à relier les réseaux municipaux d’alimentation en eau entre les quartiers et à améliorer la qualité de l’eau pour les résidents. Ces améliorations augmenteront le débit d’eau afin de répondre aux besoins d’un projet d’immeuble de 60 appartements, ainsi que de futurs projets immobiliers, ce qui permettra de construire jusqu’à 200 nouveaux logements, dont 12 destinés aux personnes à faible revenu.

Canada and New Brunswick invest water and sewer infrastructure to support more housing in Campbellton
Campbellton, New Brunswick, June 24, 2026 — The Government of Canada is using every tool at its disposal, leveraging technology, innovation and partnerships, to build homes at scale.
To that end, Guillaume Deschênes-Thériault, Member of Parliament for Madawaska—Restigouche, the Honourable Gilles LePage, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation, and Michel Soucy, Mayor of the Regional Community of Campbellton, announced a federal investment of more than $561,000, a provincial contribution of more than $374,000, and a municipal investment of more than $187,000 through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund (CHIF) to improve the water and sewer infrastructure required to accelerate the construction of more housing.
Work includes replacing several hundreds of metres of watermains, storm sewer mains, and catch basins on Notre Dame St., while connecting the municipal water distribution systems between wards and improving water quality for residents. These upgrades will increase water flow to support a proposed 60-unit apartment building, as well as future apartment developments, enabling up to 200 new housing units, including 12 low income units.

LE NOUVEAU CONSEIL MUNICIPAL DE LA COMMUNAUTÉ RÉGIONALE DE CAMPBELLTON ENTRE EN FONCTION
COMMUNAUTÉ RÉGIONALE DE CAMPBELLTON (N.-B.) – Le maire Michel Soucy et les membres du nouveau conseil municipal de la Communauté régionale de Campbellton ont prêté serment hier devant l’honorable Larry Landry, juge en chef adjoint de la Cour du Banc du Roi du Nouveau-Brunswick, lors d’une cérémonie tenue au Centre civique Mémorial régional.
Cette rencontre protocolaire marque le début officiel du mandat de quatre ans qui prendra fin en 2030.
« Notre avenir repose sur trois piliers indissociables : le travail d’équipe, la communication et la collaboration », a déclaré le maire Michel Soucy. « En unissant nos forces et en rassemblant tous nos secteurs autour d’une vision commune, nous ferons de notre municipalité la communauté fière, accueillante et vibrante que nous souhaitons tous. »
Dans son discours, le maire Soucy a appelé à l’unité après les élections, alors que la municipalité se tourne vers l’avenir. « Après une période de transition particulièrement exigeante vers une nouvelle municipalité », a-t-il déclaré, « le moment est venu d’intensifier les efforts et d’avancer avec détermination. » Il a souligné que le conseil travaillera en étroite collaboration avec le personnel, qui, selon lui, est au cœur des opérations municipales, et s’est personnellement engagé à veiller à ce que chaque membre du personnel soit traité avec respect et soit fier de travailler pour la ville. Il a également indiqué que le conseil examinerait des programmes visant à aider les résidents locaux à faire face à la hausse des coûts, notamment en matière de logements abordables. De plus, il a précisé que le conseil s’attaquera au problème des sans-abri et s’efforcera de faire en sorte que l’immigration locale soit une réussite.

NEW MUNICPAL COUNCIL FOR CAMPBELLTON REGIONAL COMMUNITY TAKES OFFICE
CAMPBELLTON REGIONAL COMMUNITY, N.B. – Mayor Michel Soucy and the members of the Campbellton Regional Community’s new municipal council were sworn in yesterday by the Hon. Larry Landry, Associate Chief Justice of the Court of King’s Bench of New Brunswick, during a ceremony held at the Memorial Regional Civic Centre.
This ceremonial meeting marks the official start of the four-year mandate which ends in 2030.
“Our future rests on three inseparable pillars: teamwork, communication and collaboration,” said Mayor Michel Soucy. “By pooling our strengths and uniting all our Areas around a shared vision, we will make our municipality the proud, welcoming and vibrant community we all want it to be.”
During his speech, Mayor Soucy called for unity following the election as the municipality moves forward. After a very demanding time of transition into a new municipality, he said, the time has come to ramp up the work and move ahead diligently. He emphasized that council will work closely with staff, who he said are at the heart of municipal operations, and personally committed to ensure every staff person would be treated with respect and feel proud to work for the city. He also stated that council will look at programs that will help local residents with rising costs, including affordable housing. As well, he said that council will tackle the local homelessness issue and will work to ensure that that local immigration is a success.

DÉCLARATION SUITE AU DÉCÈS DU CONSEILLER GAËTAN CORMIER ET SON ÉPOUSE ROSE-MARIE CHAREST
COMMUNAUTÉ RÉGIONALE DE CAMPBELLTON, N.-B. – Le conseil de la Communauté régionale de Campbellton est profondément attristé d’apprendre le décès du conseiller Gaëtan Cormier et de son épouse Rose-Marie Charest à la suite d’un tragique accident survenu le dimanche 8 février.
« Nous sommes profondément attristés par la perte de notre collègue du conseil municipal », a déclaré le maire adjoint Luc Couturier. « Gaëtan était un membre dévoué du conseil municipal, fort d’une longue expérience d’engagement communautaire, notamment dans sa communauté d’Atholville. » Il a très bien représenté ses électeurs et sa contribution nous manquera. La disparition soudaine de Gaëtan et Rose-Marie est une tragédie non seulement pour leur famille et leurs amis, mais aussi pour toute la Communauté régionale de Campbellton. »
« Au nom du conseil, du personnel et des résidents, j’offre nos plus sincères condoléances aux familles Cormier et Charest et plus particulièrement à leurs filles Prudence et Marie-Lyne », a déclaré le maire adjoint Couturier.
En hommage au conseiller Cormier et à son épouse, les drapeaux de la Communauté régionale de Campbellton sont en berne.
Le conseiller Cormier était diplômé du programme académique de l’école Polyvalente Roland-Pépin. Il a travaillé pour Énergie NB de 1987 jusqu’à sa retraite en septembre 2022 à Dalhousie, Point Lepreau et Belledune.
Très impliqué dans sa communauté, il a été pompier volontaire dans le Village d’Atholville pendant 15 ans. Il a occupé divers postes au sein du Comité du tourisme, du Carnaval d’hiver d’Atholville et du Comité du Petit Bois Sec à Atholville. Il a été bénévole pour le Club Richelieu et a organisé des collectes de fonds pour l’Hôpital Régional de Campbellton.
Avant son élection au conseil municipal de la Communauté régionale de Campbellton en novembre 2022, il était conseiller municipal de l’ancien Village d’Atholville de 2012 à 2022.
Rose-Marie était une employée retraitée de l’Hôpital Régional de Campbellton.

STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF COUNCILLOR GAËTAN CORMIER AND HIS WIFE ROSE-MARIE CHAREST
CAMPBELLTON REGIONAL COMMUNITY, N.B. – Campbellton Regional Community Council is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Councillor Gaëtan Cormier and his wife Rose-Marie Charest following a tragic accident that occurred on Sunday, February 8.
“We are heartbroken at the loss of our council colleague,” said Deputy Mayor Luc Couturier. “Gaëtan was a dedicated member of council with a long track record of community involvement, especially in his home community of Atholville. He represented his constituents very well and his contribution will be missed. The sudden loss of Gaëtan and Rose-Marie is a tragedy for not only their family and friends, but for the entire Campbellton Regional Community.”
“On behalf of council, staff and residents, I offer our most sincere condolences to the Cormier and Charest families, especially their daughters Prudence and Marie-Lyne,” Deputy Mayor Couturier said.
In respect to Councillor Cormier and his wife, flags in the Campbellton Regional Community are being flown at half-mast.
Councillor Cormier was a graduate of Polyvalente Roland-Pépin’s academic program. He worked for NB Power from 1987 until his retirement in September 2022 in Dalhousie, Point Lepreau and Belledune.
Very involved in his community, he was a volunteer firefighter in the Village of Atholville for 15 years. He held various positions on the Tourism Committee, the Atholville Winter Carnival and the Comité du Petit Bois Sec in Atholville. He has volunteered for the Club Richelieu and organized fundraisers for the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
Prior to his election to Campbellton Regional Campbellton Regional municipal council in November 2022, he was a municipal councillor for the former Village of Atholville from 2012 until 2022.
Rose-Marie was a retired employee of the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

Cet évènement prestigieux célèbre la richesse culturelle et artistique de la communauté acadienne.
En présence d’une délégation de la Communauté régionale de Campbellton à Shediac, les lauréat·e·s des Éloizes 2024 ont été dévoilé·e·s lors d’une soirée-spectacle remarquable.

The Campbellton Regional Community will proudly host “Les Éloizes 2026“
CAMPBELLTON REGIONAL COMMUNITY, N.B. – The Campbellton Regional Community is delighted to announce that it will have the honour of hosting the next edition of “Les Éloizes”, a leading artistic event on the Acadian scene, from May 13 to 16, 2026.
Les “Éloizes”, which includes several events culminating in the Gala “des Éloizes”, is organized by the Association acadienne des artistes professionnel-les du Nouveau-Brunswick (AAAPNB) and is recognized for highlighting the artistic excellence and originality of the creative work of professional artists from the four Atlantic provinces in a variety of disciplines including theatre, music, dance, visual arts and many others. This prestigious event celebrates the cultural and artistic richness of the Acadian community.
In the presence of a delegation from the Campbellton Regional Community in Shediac, the winners of the ”Éloizes 2024” were unveiled during a remarkable evening show.
“We’re honoured to welcome the “Éloizes” 2026 to our municipality,” said Mélanie Parent, Deputy Mayor of the Campbellton Regional Community.

La Communauté régionale de Campbellton reçoit 4,5 millions de dollars pour la construction de logements ! Une très bonne nouvelle pour notre municipalité !
Aujourd’hui, le gouvernement du Canada et la Communauté régionale de Campbellton ont annoncé avoir conclu une entente visant à accélérer la construction de plus de 130 logements (avec un objectif de 195) au cours des trois prochaines années. Ces travaux contribueront à stimuler la construction de plus de 460 logements au cours de la prochaine décennie.
L’entente dans le cadre du Fonds pour accélérer la construction de logements (FACL), fournira plus de 4,5 millions de dollars pour éliminer plus rapidement les obstacles à la construction des logements dont nous avons besoin. Le plan d’action de la Communauté régionale de Campbellton prévoit neuf initiatives locales qui permettront à diverses formes et densités de logements de répondre aux besoins de la communauté. Grâce au financement, on augmentera la densité en autorisant quatre unités par terrain résidentiel, en offrant des incitatifs financiers pour des unités d’habitation supplémentaires et en augmentant les hauteurs permises. La Communauté régionale de Campbellton encouragera aussi la conversion de bâtiments non résidentiels en logements, encouragera l’utilisation de constructions modulaires ou préfabriquées et élaborera des conceptions de construction préapprouvées en partenariat avec les principales parties prenantes. De plus, son plan d’action augmentera l’offre de logements abordables, simplifiera le processus d’obtention de permis et éliminera les obstacles au zonage pour créer un environnement propice au développement de logements.
« L’annonce d’aujourd’hui est un moment historique pour la Communauté régionale de Campbellton », a déclaré le maire Jean-Guy Levesque. « Ce fonds de 4,5 millions de dollars arrive à un très bon moment et sera le déclencheur pour soutenir les entrepreneurs dans le développement de logements sur notre territoire. Il permettra également à notre communauté d’amorcer un tournant important pour un développement économique prospère et devenir une ville fière, accueillante et vibrante. »

The Campbellton Regional Community receives $4.5 million for housing construction! Great news for our municipality!
Today, the Government of Canada and the Campbellton Regional Community announced that we have reached an agreement to fast track more than 130 homes (with a goal of 195) over the next three years. This work will help spur the construction of more than 460 homes over the next decade.
The agreement under the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF), will provide more than $4.5 million to eliminate barriers to building the housing we need, faster. The Campbellton Regional Community’s Action Plan commits to nine local initiatives that enable a variety of housing forms and densities to meet the diverse needs of the community. The funding will increase density by allowing four units per residential lot, providing financial incentives for additional dwelling units, and increasing height allowances. The Campbellton Regional Community will also incentivize the conversion of non-residential buildings to housing, encourage the use of modular or prefabricated construction, and develop pre-approved construction designs in partnership with key stakeholders. Additionally, the Campbellton Regional Community’s Action Plan will increase the supply of affordable housing, streamline permitting processes, and remove zoning barriers to create an environment conducive to housing development.
“Today’s announcement is a historic moment for the Campbellton Regional Community,” says mayor Jean-Guy Lévesque. “This $4.5 million fund comes at a very good time and will be the trigger to support entrepreneurs in the development of housing in our municipality. It will also allow our community to initiate an important turning point for prosperous economic development and become a proud, welcoming and vibrant city.”

We are pleased to present our second Campbellton Regional Community Bulletin for July-September 2023. The Bulletin highlights a number of events and municipal services. In addition to being available digitally, this edition of the bulletin is being printed and mailed to every home in the municipality. Look for it in your mailbox in early July! We hope you like it!
Please be advised that the Canada Day fireworks mentioned in the Bulletin will actually be held on Sunday, July 2, beginning at 10:30 p.m. They may be viewed along the Campbellton Area waterfront. Fun for the whole family! (Please refrain from taking pet dogs to this event since they are often startled by the loud fireworks.)

Nous sommes heureux de vous présenter notre premier bulletin de la Communauté régionale de Campbellton pour mai-juin 2023. Le Bulletin met en évidence un certain nombre d’événements et de services municipaux. Ceci est notre tout premier Bulletin… et il y en aura d’autres! Le prochain sera publié en juin et couvrira de juillet à septembre 2023. En plus d’être disponible en version numérique, le Bulletin juillet-septembre 2023 sera aussi imprimé et envoyé à tous les foyers de la municipalité.
